In the northern Kalahari, the most commonly used poisonous substance for arrows comes from the larva and pupae of chrysomelid beetles, like the Diamphidia vittatipennis.

Looks like one of the Worm(Thread) Snakes to me...........They have no teeth on the lower jaw, shed their skin in compact rings, and feed on insects(termites) unike most snakes.

Brahminy Blind Snake

Invasive species in many localities, reproduces using parthenogenesis. More or less blind but capable of telling light from dark, has scales that are translucent covering eyes. Is capable of bearing eggs and live young.

Didn't think our clue would be so misleading. RJ was in the right family, Leptotyphlopidae, which is also related to your Brahminy Blind Snake. The Brahminy is an invader in S.A. occuring in small areas in the Cape Town and Durban.Thanks Google! The Afrikaans name Blompotslang translates as Potplant snake, referring to it's means of transport: Nursery potting soil.
The snake in the picture is L. conjunctus or the Cape thread snake. (13-15 cm) This picture was taken in Pretoriuskop camp in KNP. It feeds on ants, and would pose no problem for soldier ants, if only they could "see" it. Ants identify friend from foe by smell, and this snake produces a pheromone similar to that of the ants. The soldiers then "trusts" it, just like the Trojan soldiers trusted the Greek horse Homer's Odessy :D
