As far as I know they are not too closely related in the family tree sort of way - however

They share the same peculiar gate - two legs on one side and then two on the other rather that a left and right at the same time.

They have a similar ability to extract all available water from their food making them less dependent on water than most mammals

They have a similar head shape

Nope the footprints differ dramamtically. A giraffe has hooves and a camel toes.

Well done Imberbe

Okay this thread I want to work like this..I want the questions to start revolving so the next question will be Imberbe's.... whomever answers correct gets to ask the next question but the next question's topic may not be the same as the previous one..like if I ask a question about a mammal the next question may not be about mammals, can be about anything else nature related and so the quiz revolves.. If anything is unclear mail me... 8)

OK

Lets make this different ...

Name the worlds most wide spread grass, which is b.t.w. very common in S.A. And what is the prominent ecological role it plays in nature?

I would have to go with Red Grass. (Tehmeda trianda)
Unfortunately, all I know about it is that it is a good grazing grass and I think it's used for making hay bales??

Red Grass is a popular grazing gras, which is widely distributed. In some areas it is seen as a very good food source, but in other areas it seems to be of lesser quality.

But it is not the correct answer ...

When you say "grass" I'm assuming you mean any member of the Poaceae - which has 600 genera and between 9,000–10,000 species, according to Wikipedia!

Wheat, maize and rice are all grasses. I'm going to take a flying guess at maize.

No, I am not revering to any grass that is being cultivated by humans. This grass is commonly found in our nature reserves.
