Try as I might, apart from smallish rodents all I can come up with is aardvark too. :doh:

Ossendryer...Now I KNOW you mean aardwolf! - thought you may have meant that when you said ' sounds like aardvark'....trouble is that- although I don't have a clue- the info I read said '5 toes on front & 4 at the back :hmz: .....the sight is 'predatorconservation.com Aardwolf' (sorry,don't know how to do links)

ok im sitting here with the book "signs of the wild" by clive walker on page 85
qoute "four toes on the fore legs and five on the hind legs."
so if any body has this book PLEASE check it.

Ossendryver, I don't have the books, but GoogleBooks has, and you're correct, it does say that.

But unfortunately I think he has let you down with incorrect info. Stuart doesn't describe the tracks and does a number of my other books, Smithers says five in front and four back, as does Liebenberg, which I will trust most of these books.

It is actually quite a nice book, but yes, wrong info on that one.

Seeing that arson was discussed above, (Michel, never knew you were a pyromaniac :shock: :lol: :tongue: ) and seeing that runaway fires have been quite prevalent in our country, and in Kruger not so long ago....

Where arson is involved, please describe the spoor markings involved which will assist in determining if a fire(s) was/were caused on purpose or by mere negligence.
