hey. well, this one had me researching a long time, since most antelope have hooves and horns
after all this time i have decided:

a) Water Buffalo (since all the rest have scent glands)

b) when feeling threatened, they move toward the threat while tossing thier head and snorting . Attacking threats on sight also takes place in more aggressive situations. they charge head on and are difficult to stop at short range.

c) buffalo need plenty grass, shade and water. they occur all over the kruger, but predominantly in woodland savannah regions. In general buffaloes are found throughout the northern and southern savanna areas of the kruger as long as water is near.

1) Syncerus caffer
2) In fights the atack is directed to the opponents head, alignment during fights is head on. It involves locking of horns, pushing etc. within the species, but towards humans it is goring, sweeping of horns and being trampled that causes most fatalities.

From practical experience:
First the stare & sometimes sniff of air.
Secondly the tossing of the head before the lowering of the head.
Third creating dust, then the charge.
Believe me if you know about a number 4, you would not be writing about it!

3) Throughout kruger, but herds toward the North tends to be larger.

Look for me near water, grass and plentiful shade.

Well Done Guys. The score stands as follows:
christo : 16 points
jonty1 : 14 points
MarkWildDog : 11 points
Freda : 3 points
WELSH_ASH : 1 point
inasmal :0 points.

The answer

a) The Cape buffalo

b) Stiff-legged gait, head level or raised, horn threats, head tossing and grunting. Herds will defend any member that is attacked, and adults encircle vaunerable members. During an attack, herd members defend themselves by lowering and tossing their heads, while prsenting their horns. They may mob-attack intruders. And what christo says is experience  . Hard to stop at short range.

c) Found everywhere in Kruger, especially in wooldland savannah and up North.

1) Large spotted genet, as the small spotted does not breed in summer.
2)Nocturnal, solitary but can be seen in pairs (Usualy mating), move mostly on ground, but are very good tree climbers that can jump from one tree to another, run with head held low and tail horizontal.
3) Males can be from 1.4kg up to 3.2kg, but average at 2kg.
