According to Dawid van Lill's book on Nature Trivia the Nile Crocodile has a bite strength of 1134 kg, while the hyaena only comes third at 454 kg.

Very interesting is the fact that the snap tortoise (aligitotor tortoise) can bite at a strength of 456 kg. Not recommended as a pet at all.

Ossendryver,

Your DVD's are not misleading but might give the impression that the jaw of the hyaena is stronger.

The movement of the jaw will give the hyaena an advantage when chewing on a piece of meat or bite through a bone or stick.

The crocodile has limited lateral movement of the jaw, therefore can not chew off a piece of meat, but neat to swallow whole or smack the prey against the ground until a piece breaks off.

I've watched a fish-eagle bullying a crocodile until it got it right to grap the fish out of the croc's mouth, which had difficulting to swallow the fish down. I could not believe it, but being there when it happened I can tell the story as a fact. :o My SO was too slow to capture it on camera but we got some footage of the eagle flying off. :cam:

Another interesting fact about crocs is that the muscle of the croc's jaw is not that strong when opening the jaw.
Researchers can easily place a rubber band around the snout, which the croc can not force open.

Elzet cannot get on and stay on - this should be open for whoever wants to go first.

I am not completely sure but it is between the leopard and the cheetha.

the leopard needs strong legs to be able to climb up trees and the cheetha needs strong legs for its speed when running.

So if my first awnser is correct give it to me but if not anybody else is welcome to use my awnser!..
GRM all the way! We do it for the greater cause!
