Hi,

I received an sms notification of construction work st Lower Sabie. Couple of questions :

-how long will this last?
-how does this affect staying there?
-is it still pleasant?

Many Thanks

The only construction I saw 3-4wks ago was renovation of accommodation. This was just as you leave the reception area on the path to all accommodation. It was fenced off and not causing any disruption.

Thanks Shushin,

Does anyone else have any further information about this? Booked for December but I don't want to stay there if there is lots of construction.

Depending on when in December, just remember that all construction works usually stop from 16 December till 2nd week in January = contractors holiday.

I am also keeping an eye on availability at LS for September and will be interested in what other Mites are going to answer on this post :hmz:

Thanks Leanawel,

I hope your trip is great!

Hopefully someone who has recently stayed at Lower Sabie can provide some feedback.

Regards,

I will be in Lower Sabie for a couple of nights in December.
But hopefully there won't be any noisy construction as it will be the Xmas period.

We stayed at LS in Jan 2007, when there was a lot of new units being built.
Even when there was no work going on, the constant mess of the "building site" spoiled the ambience of the camp for us, so we wished we had stayed elsewhere.

Having said that, I am not complaining about the work being carried out, just saying from my point of view, I would rather not be staying nearby.

Also, if as Shushin says, the work is hidden behind fences, maybe it will be OK.

Thank you to Stephens.L for his assistance in getting a reply on this issue :gflower:

Please note that there is indeed a construction taking place at Lower Sabie. The construction is part of the Infrastructure Development Programme/Plan (IDP) to upgrade some of our ageing infrastructure. The current construction taking place at Lower Sabie is phase one of the five year strategy. It will continue until February next year.

We try by all means to ensure that the construction has minimum impact on our guests. Please allow me to take this opportunity to apologise for inconvience occured as a result of construction taking place in the park. It is in the best interest of both the organisation and its stakeholders to ensure that from time to time, we upgrade our infrastructure to remain relevant in the hospitality industry.

Thanks Matthys,

I understand there will be construction and i am perfectly happy and fully understand that the park needs to uplift the units/camps from time to time.

My question pertains more to the level of impact that will have on staying at Lower Sabie during that period.

Many Thanks,

Thanks Matthys. Is it maybe possible to provide more detail regarding the construction? Is it building of new units, upgrade of the older bungalows / huts? Any more detail regarding the construction will be appreciated.

Dear Mfezi

Please note that the construction at Lower Sabie involve a couple things such eracting new safari tents, changing tacht roofs, installing new lights on the paveway and paintings. This will have minimum effects on guests. This process will not be carried out at once, for example two units will be renovated at once from there they will move to another without disturbing daily operations in the camp.

Yesterday I paid the final balance for my trip to Kruger in December

On the confirmation that was emailed to me, under the Lower Sabie days/section it says "Construction currently underway close to unit" We are in a FU4V unit.

Since we are there from the 24th - 26th December, would I be correct in assuming that there will be no actual work going on over those few days, being Xmas and all.

Good question, yoda.

I will be there in the same unit on 18 & 19 Dec'13, so very much interested in the construction situation. :hmz:

Hi All
I think that the builders holiday from the 16th December to the 13th January when the industry closes for the annual shutdown will effect those visiting over that period.
However if the construction/noise affects you why not get out at gate opening time and stay out until gate closing time. Just a thought. :slap:  :slap:
