Bit much for 1 or two people, or is that first bit just a mistake?

From what I understand, if you book there, there will be nobody else.
The adlut min rate is the price per night for up to 4 people.
It's a bit expensive if you're on your own but nothing tells you you can't book for only one person!

I have another question : is there someone from Sanparks there (in case of an emergency for example) ?

Base rate for 1-4 p is R1500 + R300 per additional adult. Quite decent I think, looking at what you get for that.

No DQ it is not a mistake a the whole camp must be booked. But as Elena said the first 4 pay the minimum rate so if you share that it is not bad. For what you have it is it's money worth over and over. And all that peace and ABSOLUTE quiteness is amazing!

Elena yes there is Sanparks staff that see to you every need from carrying the luggage to setting up a nice table (with wine glasses etc), cleaning and yes for in case of emergencies).
They are also there to keep the ellies out... they damaged the gate on several occasions (even got into camp) because apparently it is on their route to water in the river!

An experience you must try at least once!

All I can say is that it sounds like just the place for me! I could not think of a better way to enjoy the bush, almost as if its your own lodge! I am absolutely desperate to stay there.

I wanted to book for July 2006 but it was booked out within the first 30 minutes of lines opening! What time of year were those pics taken? Was it summer? It is so green.

I love the road that its on, one of my favourites in every respect. I am going to get there, sooner or later I WILL.

Bosnimf, thank you for posting the pics, I new the camp was in a good location but never had a clue just how magnificent it really is.

Yes it was taken December 2004, except for the great road the bird life was also prolific!

Yip Oumie, it was expensive, but we give ourselves treats like this every now and then.
On the other hand, considering that you pay up to R4000 p/p at the lodges in Sabi Sabi for a commercialised bush experience, the R1500 p/n for Roodewal is an absolute bargain. Even a not so fancy hotel room can cost you R500 p/p.
For a special birthday or anniversary you cannot beat the “value for moneyâ€Â

I agree with Jumbo... for a special treat NOTHING can beat this.
If you are 4 people going it will workout R375 per person, which is nothing compared to other types of accomodation outside the park. And the luxury of having the whole camp to yourself without ANY noice and all the night sounds it is AWESOME!!!

NO this is really nice... cause all the bungalows are away from the braai area (and kitchen and dining area) they have provided for a toilet just behind the braai, so you don't have to walk all the way back to the bungalow!

I would really go there if i were you... you can always let me go with i love that place

We are thinking of staying at Roodewal on our next visit. Can anyone advise -

Are there any staff present?

Were you concerned for your personal safety, being on your own out there? There will only be 2 of us.

What is the accommodation like?

Does it overlook a waterhole?

Hi Catherine - As far as I am aware Roodewaal has to be booked in its entirety. I am almost 100 percent certain that 20 people could not book out a portion of it. There is a resident staff member there who apparently has radio contact if need be. We have often discussed staying at this particular camp but have always been curtailed due to the booking out of the whole camp. The same thing used to apply to Nwanetsi before it was taken over by the Singita Concession. Why don't you check out the tariffs page on the Sanprks home page for confirmation - maybe a phone call would answer all your queries. Certainly it is an extremely well positioned camp on the Timbavati Road and when one considers how far one is from the nearest alternative accommodation you will see that at certain times of the day you can have the Timbavati Road virtually to yourself! Big bonus nowadays when there is a lot of traffic on the roads.
