I can recommend Punda Maria's shop for anything you may need. The last time we were there in June the shop was stocked and prices not unreasonable.

If you go to Punda in December just be prepared for a cicada overload. We were there in December 2012 and it was hectic but it is still one of the best camps. There is enough roads to drive but sometimes it is enough to sit next to fence at hide.

Hi Estelle

In the last 7 years we have never gone into Kruger with food. We have always bought at the shops in the camps. The only park we have ever taken groceries into is Addo.

We thinking of doing things differently this year because it is the first time we staying for so long and the first time going north, so feedback like yours is greatly appreciated.

Regards
Ryan

I am very glad I stumbled on this subject. We are going to Punda Maria for the first time ever this year and from all I have been reading I think we should have booked for longer than the one night. I sounds really interesting.
Hopefully Mopani is also interesting because we are going there for 2 nights after PM and we haven't been there before either.

Hi All

We will be staying overnight in Polokwane before heading to Punda Maria Camp. Which route is best to take?

Would you recommend we enter at Pafuri and drive down, or enter at Punda. How long is the drive to Punda gate or Pafuri gate from Polokwane?

Thanks and regards

Hi Leaping Lizard. We are staying at Punda for the first time and we decided to enter right at the top of Kruger (Pafuri Gate). We are staying overnight at Pafuri River Camp 3km's outside Pafuri Gate and planning to spend the entire morning exploring Pafuri and Crook's corner then heading down to Punda.
