Sorry, no pics. We were there last week for 1 night. I was surprised at the amount of game on the H1-1 main road to Skukuza. Usually P/Kop is known to have lower animal densities than eg. Satara etc. But we saw so much in 15 hours, I am actually going back in 3 weeks to spend another 8 days there! For summer, I like to book ES2 hut no 74/75 for lovely shade in the heat of the day... have already done so for Christmas this year.
Hope you have a lovely time!
God bless,

Hope to see you there have booking 27th Dec to 2nd Jan just praying bonus going to help fit it into our budget.

Can anyone tell me about the freezer space in the fridges in the EB2 huts in Pretoriuskop? We have not stayed in these huts before and we carry quite a lot of frozen stuff. Not sure if the fridges here are bar fridges or normal sized fridge/freezer combinations. Would much appreciate some input. :D

A quick report about Pretoriuskop after spending 8 days there over Xmas...
Not as many impala as Skukuza or Croc Bridge, and generally less game...

BUT!

Amazing sightings as usual -- pack of 7 wild dogs on S3 for a while on my own, then 30 min with 2 other cars. Repeat performance between Numbi and Detour route to Fayi loop the following day!
Male cheetah on S3 on tree, walking in road.
Plenty of elephant and other large mammals on H1-1. Many people saw the cheetah brothers there. We only saw the 2 cheetahs once
Only saw 2 lions in 8 days! But fantastic lion sightings on longer drives to south of Skukuza on S21 etc.
Leopard -- 3 cubs playing in dead tree on Xmas morning at 4:35 am... all on my own! Only 1 other car at end of sighting...
Missed them following day but told neighbours where to look -- they spent 2 hours with them!
4:50 next morning found 2 cubs. 1 in road, other in tree. Spent 2 hours with them, later no 3 appeared briefly. Elephant bull in musth disturbed them and trod over their playground. Other people saw them again later...
Stunning male leopard 500m down H2-2 Voortrekker road next to road. Same leopard on Fayi loop next pm...
Amazing jumping spiders and insects in the grounds of the swimming pool during the middle of the day!
Not bad for Pretoriuskop!
I love the place...
God bless for 2015

We were in Kruger in December and we did not stay in Pretoriuskop but was there for a while one morning. To us, based on the short while that we have spent there, Pretoriuskop beats all the other camps by far in terms of cleanliness, tidiness and general maintenance of facilities.

A don’t forget the best pool in the whole park, the only pool in fact that could almost make me want to get back to camp early to go for a swim.

Can someone help me understand the camp map.

What is the Wolhuter Hut?

And what are #101-108?

Hi duncanblizzard,

Wolhuter's Hut is sort of like a little museum to show people the type of accommodation people used to stay in many many years ago. It's not part of the accommodation to sleep in today.

As for #101 - #108 ... Unit #103,106 - 108 are ES2 Huts, #101,102, 104 and 105 are BG4 Bungalows.

Hope this helps :)

Thank you! Yes, that helps. Now I see what those lines on the map signify. They tie to the closest room type.

We're looking for a fairly quiet BG4 unit with easy access. It looks like units #135 and #136 might be the best if we can get them.

Do all bungalows have a parking space next to them?

I love the bungalows in the Circle .. lots of birdlife in the trees ... I have to be honest and say I'm not very fond of the BG4 units .. Don't know why but it "lacks" the kruger feel for me.

Yes .. all bungalows and huts etc will have a parking bay for 1 vehicle :)

 Wild@Heart, we were told the other day, on phoning PTK, that 106 - 108 are EB2 Huts. Maybe they have been upgraded? Or have you been in one of these recently? We have booked into one, but as far as I know the ES2 huts have no A/C and we would prefer to have one so I hope they haven't put us in the wrong category . . . .

Hi salamanda,

That could very well be the case :)

I just used the Pretoriuskop Map which could be outdated or maybe just a spelling error (which could be the case looking at the spelling of the camp map jpg "pretoriouskop.jpg"). :D :D :)

Yes we also looked at the map, but the lady to whom we spoke assured us that they were EB2. Apparently the map has not been updated . . . . Thanks W@H :D
