Hi Everyone,

I have a question which I am sure someone on the forum will be able to answer. My husband and I are traveling to the KNP in October and we will most probably be towing a trailer. If we arrive at the camp we are staying in for the night before check in time, will it be acceptable for us to leave the trailer at the camp and them go on a game drive?

I don't see that it would be a problem at all Bren, just find a suitable spot in one of the public parking areas.
Maybe just confirm with reception when you arrive.

There should be no problem, but please check with reception in case they prefer you to leave it in a special area. Some camps do not have lots of parking available and if you block a car parking spot you might not be popular. You may even find that they can allocate you your bungalow early and you can leave the trailer there, especially as the previous occupants should have left by 10am.

There are always a corner here or a quiet spot there where you will be able to park without it being in the way of other visitors. If you want to park it in the official parking area, be considerate to other visitors and park the trailer the furthest away from e.g. the shops, where people sometimes just want to make a quick stop.

Dont forget a heavy chain and good lock. Even though, by far the majority of people in the park, are decent folk, the rot has unfortunately set in......you have been warned !

x2

There should be no problem locking it to a tree or post close to the bungalow you will be using. For the 27 years I have been going with my parents there has never been a problem finding a space out of the way of traffic or other parking spaces.

If you pack enough to use a trailer I assume you are not just 2 people and there are a number of the bigger bungalows that have double parking.

Remember the locks for the lid of the trailer if you are not going to offload the whole trailer at every camp.
