I will be making a stopover in Hazyview enroute to KNP.please give a quick advice which gate has the least traffic and entry queue at gate opening time, which should be 6.00 a.m. Is it Paul Kruger - Phabeni - Numbi -

Looking forward to some good tips.

I have found Phabeni to be the busiest!
Paul Kruger road is less busy, but plenty of speeders!
Numbi will be your most peaceful entry in to the Park

Paul Kruger gate will always be one of my most favourite gates.

Numbi is an old style entrance gate which I just love.

I cannot stand the new Phabeni gate. I think it is ugly and it does nothing to enhance my Kruger excitement which I get from the other southern gates.

However it is the fastest access gate from Hazyview distance wise.

The worst thing about Phabeni gate is that it ruined the Doispane Road. Before the gate opened, the Doispane was very quiet, especially in the mornings when all the cars lined up at the gate went racing down along the Sabi and Sand rivers. One could have the Doispane to oneself all morning. I can recall almost having to gently nudge a whole pride of lions off the road once. When I got to the end I turned around, drove back, and one hour later found the whole pride still in the same spot right in the road, a short distance west, but out of sight of, the Watergat T-junction. At the junction I actually had to flag down cars turning onto Watergat who otherwise would have missed the sighting.

I agree with this but also whilst Numbi gate can be quiet, the road for me personally is not lucky animal wise. There cna be other people disagreeing with me, we all have our luck on our roads. Phabeni too busy, but if you are not going on a weekend or during holidays I won't see that there would be probems and Kruger never have issues with being busy.

Certainly, Numbi has always been the quietest for me. The S3 towards Phabeni can sometimes yeild some interesting sightings. It is also a very quiet road, so there is no problem with big traffic jams.

Ah Mousy. Making us jealous with that caracal again

Agree with Heksie. Numbi is probably the quietest with both animals and cars

thanks to all,i agree that maybe numbi could be a very quiet gate for entry traffic, but the same may not be said for the sightings leading upto skukuza for all,on my last visit, just after entering i had a cheetah on the road all to myself, hoping that i might strike some luck again.
