Absolutely MM. It is far too long since I have been there, but I am in a KTP 'season' at present.

but this camp has stood the test of time.

I do think that BB has had a KTP zapp

I am not going there.

I have often wondered about BB's current state.
he is a bit on the "strange side"

No matter what you and I think, Kgalagadi does seem to do that to folk.

That is totally untrue MM....I am a lot on the strange side.

Your pics are very enticing and bring back lots of great memories - as we both know, not together....

BTW, the only persons who can prove their sanity are those with a release form from a mental institution. If you don't have one, you could also be on the strange side.

Apart from my favourite which is Shingwedzi I would also say that we have had consistent good times and good service at Orpen camp. The waterhole in front of the row of bungalows are great as there is always something wonderful to see when sitting on one of those benches next to the fence. Even when there are no animals at the waterhole the typical Lowveld bush scene surrounding Orpen with the Marula trees are quite adequate and even better still when the moon is full . We have also seen plenty of birds in camp and also seen a few snakes including a juvenile boomslang in the vegetation in front of the shop. It is also probably the camp where we have heard the most bush sounds during the night including lions . Friends of us who just returned from a visit to Kruger was also very impressed as they are talking very fondly about Orpen camp. for the Orpen staff.

I would definitely have Tamboti in my top 3 camps in Kruger! Wonderfully rustic bush experience! (so much so that it is a struggle to survive as Bush Baptist can testify). But I would not stay there for longer than 3 nights. As wonderful as the H7 is, I don't like to be confined to go down it all the time

Even from way before safari tents and restaurant deck
And stayed in the 2 persons simple bungalows, huts, safari tents, luxury bungalows
And love the diverse landscapes and ditto animals in the area

Balule is my favourite camp (only camped there once for 14 days), but Pretoriuskop is the first camp my SO ever took us to and every trip since then has always included a trip to Pretoriuskop, from the campsite, to the huts to the bungalows, to the area inside the camp to the roads around the camps and the dams and loops, Pretoriuskop never fails us

Which has stood my test of time...

No doubt Shingwedzi is my number 1! Been the same for the last 25 years...love it...its the epitomy of what Kruger used to be like when the first tourists started going to the park and its out of the rat race of the south.
I hope they never change the layout of the camp, it brings back such great childhood memories going back there. Even if its not as well run as before, nothing can ruin my stay there. I like the way one is reminded of the simplicities of life when up there. Viewing has always been good up there for my family too!

Olifants, Letaba, Croc Bridge, Punda and Satara are all right up there as well.
