Ah you camping!!
Now where have you already booked? And how many more do you need to book?
My advice for you is:
stay at least 2 nights at one camp. To pack down, move, pack up all the time is a hassle! Detracts from the enjoyment of the trip!

Hi Cheetah, I could only book for 3 nights because bookings are only allowed 11 months in advance, so as per my currunt booking am staying only 1 night in Shingwedzi :( but than 2 nights at Letaba :D , after that the remainder of my booking will be done as follows, 3 nights in Satara, 3 Nights in LS, 1 Night in Skuk, 1 Night in Satara, And my last night back in familier teriotary Shingwedzi. What do you think, or should I change my plan a bit.

Kallis I would recommend you change it so that you do not three one night stays in various camps

I'm not a letaba fan  but in any case
3 nights letaba
3 nights satara
2 nights LS
2 nights skuks

you can always return to Punda and Shing familiar territory again another trip

Cheetah it's a fab plan, but if I decide to exit at Kruger gate or Orpen I'll have a long journey back home, So would prefer to exit Punda Gate. what do you think of after 3 nights at LS, and instead of 2 one nights at Skuks and Satara, I spend the 2 nights at Orpen Camp. and my last night at Shing. What do you think, am not a huge Letaba fan myself.

During out last visit in KNP from the 14th - 19th of July 2011 there were a lot of Wild Dog sightings near Satara.
Unfortunately we didn’t have the chance to see them.....
A lot were seen on the road from Satara to Olifants and to the South of Satara.

The pictures are of the Sightings board in Satara of the 18th of July 2011
(Yellow are the Wild Dogs but I don't have to mention it :D )

We will one day, Staying in the North I hardly get to see any YR, so camping together would be fun. Enjoying nature. But with me I always have my friend with me in all my Kruger trips so be sure to count 3 people in.

In Kruger everything is possible of course. But I want to point out that some tourist mistake hyenas for wild dogs, :wall: so you cannot rely on the sighting board completely. And Satara is lion country so it is not likely for wild dogs to hang out there.

I have had the pleasure to see wild dogs near Orpen twice, near Skukuza (H1-1 and S1), H3 to Berg en Dal and S26 above Biyamiti. So if it was to see the wild dogs, I would vote for Skukuza instead of Satara. If it was for the best campsite....mmm.....I have never camped in Kruger myself, but Satara campsite looks better.

THANKS MEREL. I would agree with the fact that some people do mistake Hyenas for WILD DOGS, My own sister does that so would agree with your statement but Kruger is unpredictable, lets hope I see them at Maroela, or at LS since I have 3 nights there. But will defo hang around croc bridge and skukuza area in the hope of seeing some Wild Dogs.

Kallis you are so lucky living 45 mins from Punda Maria as you can go anytime to find one of the most visible packs of Wild Dog in Kruger that are often seen while travelling the Mahonie Loop

There is of course the 4-5 well known packs in the far South far from you

My best luck at getting Wild Dog is along the Redrocks Road S52 (I think) at the Western end near Bateleur Camp when the Shangoni Pack arrives generally in early Summer to hunt the prolific no of Impala Lambs found at that particular stretch of the Shingwedzi River so head there at the end of Nov asa good bet :)
