We once drove into the parking area of Nkumbe and there was a huge Leopard!! Needless to say we didnt`t get out that day and we are very wary now when we are there!

I've told the story before and won't bore everyone again with the details, but we had a lioness walk behind us (passed the entrance to the car park) while we were out enjoying the view.
Naturally when we saw her our hearts nearly popped out of our throats and we're also exceptionally wary there now  .
It's still one of my favourite views on earth though 8)

last year when i visited nkumbe, my brother and i were sitting there watching a few lion in the distance and there was a guinea fowl at the edge of the steps, where my brother was about ten centimetres from, all of a sudden a massive black mumba struck at the guinea fowl and it was so close to my brother   I will never forget that , needless to say we didint stick around for much longer, snakes are definately not my favourite animal

Yikes, I think that would have had me leaving in rather a hurry as well.
BTW, what happened to the guinea Fowl, was the mamba successful in its strike?

Nkumbe is not far south , about 5 km , of Orpen dam on the H10 Tsokwane / Lower Sabie road .
Lovely view , there is a lookout towards the east where one cannot alight from your vehicle which is not so frequently visited as the lookout to the west .

I also can't believe that you have missed it every time. Are you sure?

Here is a picture of the view. I will try and get you an even better pic.

1998, before the thatch was there we were sitting on the bench & a Leopard came strolling past behind us. About 2 meters away.

Wonder how many times he has done that without anyone noticing. :hmz:

Nkumbe eastern viewpoint in the winter. (I've always wondered if one can see Moz. from there).
