After our trip 2 weeks ago have decided to avoid this area which always used to be so rewarding . The crowds at weekends are staggering, and the behaviour appalling, people out of cars, leaning through windows, standing on roofs of cars. Ugh...........its ugly!

Its apparent to me that loads and loads of people are coming into the park even for just a few hours, let alone a day,and are impatient and want to see it all , so they take stupid risks and spoil sightings. This seems to happen mainly around L.Sabie, Croc and Skuk. L.Sabie was so busy when we stopped by that we noticed even the deck is breaking up, and the staff just cant cope. By contrast Letaba, Satara etc were quiet and peaceful.

I love this road too much to avoid it completely - brings back memories from way-back-when. We do however try to travel on it, in the early morning when it is reletively quiet. A couple of weeks ago we did this route several times very early in the morning and were not dissapointed (eg. two cars at a lions-in-the road sighting).

Traffic is the only thing not going for this road.

Other than that a fantastic road. Plenty of cats and my only wild dog sighting just after Nkhulu heading to Skuks.

I have seen many great sightings on this road in the past, 2 lion kills, leopards etc., and scenery wise for me it ranks high, along with many other great roads in Kruger.

The only problem I have with this road is the traffic and the unruly behaviour at sightings, which would cause me to turn around or drive past (if possible).

By the way, this is not a recent problem, it has been called Eloff str for many many decades.

Hi NJV,
That is a giant eagle owl, there are lots of them in the Kruger NP.
Hope you had a great trip!

We did this road a few times on our recent trip in December.

Saw all of the Big 5 on multiple occasions.
I especially love this road for the breeding herds of Eles that are seen along the Sabie.

Probably one of the very best in Kruger for that!

Besides big 5, I have had nice hyenas and wild dogs on this road

Superb picture Andrea.. thanks for posting.

It is a very busy road in the holiday season. It does however produce. My best was four leopards in twenty minutes.
