Granny, you can go on a 2x4 on those roads from what I understand, and looking at what you have, that is 4x4 and has high clearance. From the sign, it seems to me high clearance is most important. You can also see from the pics, they are not badly rutted roads. So go and have an adventure. Just do not do it after rain to be on the safe side. You have a good chance of it still being dry in October.

Granny , rest assured the Jimny will be more than capable to travel the low maintenance roads .

Granny, your Jimny will make mince meat of that roads. IMHO the Jimny is one of the pluckiest little thing ive seen in a long time. The short wheel axil make it brilliant for roads like this.

Ive done that road in something way smaller and lower ground clearance and didnt have any problems at all. And on roads like that, and even when offroading, the car isnt the limiting factor, but rather the capabilities of the driver.

All soft off roader / SUV 's such as Terios , Honda CRv , Nissan X Trail , Toyota RAV etc will easily manage provided there are no washaways / heavy rain , in which case all gravel roads are closed to tourists !

A tip - when you do the routes; make sure you have a lot of time and take your time to savour being 'off the beaten track'. Take a picnic along to enjoy half way at Masorini.

Are there lots of these roads in the Park ? Must admit I have never seen them. Will travel on this one in October, but only there for four days so time is limited, but coming up again in January on my own for two weeks so will have plenty time to explore.
Really excited about this cause I hate seeing too much traffic on the roads, have enough of that at home.

And I must tell you about my Suzuki Jimney..... His name is Jack and he takes on a whole new personality when we are in the Kruger, he sort of gets this rumpled look and grows a beard like the Marlboro Man. 8) He just knows when the cooler bags and camera get put in... we are off to have some fun! He can of course be a bit geeky with his glasses and briefcase around Jhb, but Kruger Jack is his real personality. I hope my Son ( the one with the temperamental Defender) is not reading this, will then be totally convinced I have lost it.

Good day granny aka 'mom'

Since i am new to this forum i wanted to clear this all up to the fellow forum members,
My landie is a model of impecable 4x4 enginering and i am happy to report has not broken down in over a month now, and as soon as the electrjcs decide to work again it will be even better :-) And just so everyone knows i have never had a bad word to say about the little plucky jimney and i think its a wonderful car like i have always told you, however it falls short of being the amazingly reliable machine like mine :-)

just so you all know granny is my mother and unfortunatly for her i did indeed read her post

Ps: a little banter never hurts
Pps: love you mom and im in the kruger this weekend

We travelled on a few of these low maintenance roads recently around the Phalaborwa area - they great with few other vehicles on them. You do need a 4x4 in some areas.
Thanks Scipio for the info on the one you suggested.

Just to tell you all, did those roads no problem at all. Big problem for sedan vehicle in front of me, where to my horror, all occupants of car were wandering down the road having hit a rock. ( 10 Hyenas not more than 1 k away) Phoned emergency services and they helped them. Oy vey!!!!!
