Ja- Glad I'm not the one who has to clean up the floodplain downstream.

I also thank you Johan for providing us with a glimpse, we would otherwise not have, of the power of the flood and the damage sustained. Quite sobering but also very interesting.

Incredible pics showing the immense power of nature!
but what a beautiful and scenic part of the park.

Did you take the pics of the camp just recently or are they from a little while ago Johan?
I ask because I wondered if any restoration work has been undertaken or that how it still looks today.

My pleasure, everyone.

All pics taken 1- 10 March.

Only some cleanup activity at Pafuri Camp. Closed through 2013, although I suspect its future hangs in the balance.

Luvuvhu River rerouted below The Outpost, i.e. just downstream of the Mutale confluence.

And that was the plunge pool we spent and afternoon in cooling down. How sad to see the camp in such disarray. Thx Johan for the photos.

johanrebel,

A person can visualize what it looks like...but your :cam: just brings it all together. Your photos depicts what the magnitude of the destruction that took place..massive. Thank you for sharing  ...

Thank you for sharing the Pafuri floods with us Johanrebel! Your pictures are proof that there is nothing one can do about any of the elements, least of all water!

That picture, as well as the one in the preceding post, was taken from room 12, the one at the end of the line with the best views by far (shh! don't tell anyone!).

I was asking about the camp since I was hoping to do the Pafuri walking trail from there.

We sent a message to Wilderness Safari that went to Fish Eagle Safari in US.
They checked back and let us know about availability beginning April.
