We want to take my Mom, turning 86 this year, to Kruger. She has been a visitor to the Park for more than 50 years, but has yet to stay in a Bush-camp. She has lost almost all mobility and is mostly dependant on a wheelchair. Are there any facilities for disabled people at Biyamiti? Would we be able to take her for walks in the camp in the wheelchair?

Dear Naomi :D

This is one area where Biyamiti is unfortunately still lacking. None of our cottages does make provision for mobility impaired persons and the camp is fairly difficult to negotiate in a wheelchair with steep inclines towards the river side as well as some very sandy patches. We have accommodated persons in wheelchairs in the past and do have a mobile ramp to put up at the cottage to make access easier. The right person to contact in this regard is Chris Patton at our Pretoria office. I will ask him to respond to your posting.

Warm greetings from the bush
:D

Stephen posted this one a little while ago:

The first photo was taken from the place where the wave comes up again. Amazing what a little water can do to change a view.

This is a very good spot to see hamerkop and pied kingfisher hunt.

And greenbacked heron.
And it's a great spot for photography, as you see the birds at eyeheight!

Hallo Baz

Our evening drives leave at 17:00 in winter time and last for about 3 hours. Yes alternatively one can do either a morning walk or morning drive from the camp as well. These are about 4 hours in duration and leave at 06:00 and 05:00 respectively. Please give me a pm for bookings to make sure you do not miss out.

Warm regards :D

It was mentioned that units 1-9 are the "better units" as they all have river views. I see that there are two accommodation types listed namely: Cottages (5 units – code CO2+2) and Guest Cottages (10 units – code GC5).

My question is: Do only the Guest Cottages have river view or are there some of the Cotagges with river view?

Francoisd, as far as I can remember, cottage # 3,4,5 & 8 has river views.
BTW, considering the price you pay for these cottage (if you are 2 people) and what you get compared to a normal bungalow in other camps for the same price, I would stay more than 2 nights.

Francoisd if you go for the cottages (smaller ones) Stephen said that the order of best views are no's 8, 5, 3, 2 & 1. Going there in 3 weeks will send you some pics.

Hi Luislang

# 1 & 2 definitely has nice views….especially # 1. But these 2 are Guest Cottages (big units).
It would be great if you can get more pics of the units to add to this thread. I’m sure it helps people who are planning trips to Biyamiti.
Cottage # 8 is a great unit (hope it works out that you guys get it  ). The unit is actually quite private. I once stayed in this unit alone for 2 nights…was writing exams in Malelane. The first night, while trying to study, I heard the leopard for quite some time, very close in the riverbed….constantly swapped between my study books and the spotlight.
Have a fantastic time Luislang!

Hey guys ,we have booked for Biyamiti in December in a guest cottage(sleeps 5) and would just like to ask which units have a river view and who do i contact to request this?

Here's what Stephen Nel (former manager at Biyamiti) posted some months ago:

"The nrs for The CO4 are indeed 3, 4, 5, 8, 10 - however they do not all have views. All the cottages from #10 onwards have virtually no view - situated further away from the river and having bush in front of them. The bests views are in order of preferance 7, 6, 9, 2, 1, (11-15 none) for the GC5 and 8, 5, 4, 3, (10 none) for the CO4."

You can send an email or a fax to the camp to ask for a certain unit.
