Hello
We're going to be at BD for 2 full days and want to maximize the experience.
Whant is the best way to do that when our starting point is Berg-en-dal camp?
Thank you for the advice,
Sirenada

:D Hi Sirenada

Visit the Matjulu waterhole
The H3 to Skuz is a good road
The S114
And the S25 as far as you can go - closed further on after the floods.
Saw leopard kill impala on the S110 once.

But most important: Just enjoy

Suggestion
Be the first at the gate opening time(or try,it is the best time of day)
straight out B n D gate on S110(tar road)
T junction , Left onto H3(tar)
1st right S114(sand Road)
3rd left S119(sand road)
Gardenia Hide ( excellent place to stop and have break) (take own flask and maybe a buiscuit)
1st right onto S114(sand road)
1st left onto H2-2(sand road)
Right onto H3(tar road)
Arrive at Afsaal(unsaddle) - Can you find the Scops Owl? (take your own food or buy there)
After a break turn right H3 (tar)
2nd right onto S112(dirt)- you will find the Stephens Hamilton Memorial- magic place - enjoy the quiet
T junction
turn right(S114) dirt road
5th right onto S121(dirt road)
T junction- turn left onto H3 (tar)
1st Right (S120)- (sand road)Steilberg- Afrikaans for Steep Mountain
T junction
turn right(S110)
T junction -
If you turn right here-less than a kilometer you will find a Cul de sac with a water point( Matjulu)
After that follow S110 back to tar road, turn left , B n D is now 50 meters in front of you.
Now enjoy an ice cream back @ camp

Please take a map with you, I am running on memory (my map in storage with my caravan)and have tried my best to recall my trips to B n D, I am sure there are many fellow mites that will help me correct my mistakes (and please do), I hope you enjoy your KRUGERPARKING.

Hi all,

We will be spending this coming weekend (26-28 October) in Berg-en-Dal, are there any great roads for this area this time of year, we only have Saturday and Sunday in the park, I doubt there will be time for a drive when we arrive on Friday afternoon.

Thanks :D

Hi and a warm welcome to the forum NJVermaak.

The park has had a lot of rain in the past few days and some of the dirt roads may or may not be closed dependant on whether there is further heavy rain before your visit.
So I would advise just to check at the camp reception once there, have a look at the sightings board just outside reception and take it from there.
Any of the roads in that area can and do produce great sightings.

Enjoy your visit and let us know how it went afterwards.

Have an awesome time!!
But I hate to bring bad news.
Berg en dal is completely out of electricity and petrol at least until Friday!
Not even hit water.
They are going to start fixing on Friday.
I really hope they get it fixed.
So plan a head.

Anyway, roads for great animals:
H3, all predators
S110 tar leopards lion and Berg en dal pack of Wild Dogs
S119 leopard
S118 leopard and lion and cheetah and Wild Dogs

Uh oh! This is not good news. I have a booking in Berg & Dal for the 4 - 6 November to make plans for the wedding we are having there in April. Hopefully they will have power up and running or do you think it might be best to change booking to another camp?

I am sure they will contact you if there is any problem. I know that the campers who came to us were called by BnD staff and told of the problem and given a choice of alternatives. All should be OK for you though, it is far enough ahead of time.

Thanks for the advice and heads up guys!No electrcity is no problem, although the warm water might be an issue. I heard about the power going out, but the less lights - the better the bush experience is

We will be making some provisions for the rain and hope we get a level stand!

Hi Clairey,

We returned from Berg-en-Dal yesterday afternoon and we didn't have any problems, electricity was restored and there were no problems.

As for fuel I'm not sure, the garage in the camp did look very quiet when we passed.
