Hi bushhugger, my SO and self stayed at BED in November and were very pleased with the accommodation and sightings in the area. The cottage I beleive it was no 27 was extremely comfortable and close to the perimeter fence and the rhimo trail. it was very clean with a lovely covered outside area. the staff were very friendly and efficient.  We didnt use the restaurant so cant comment on that. We are hoping to pay a return visit sometime in 2013. Have a good time.

Hi bushhugger.

Berg-en-dal is a very well-run camp with nice accommodation. The staff are friendly and efficient. The area has good sightings and is very pretty.

One word of warning, however, be very aware of the vervet monkeys. They will help you unpack your car when you arrive (don't leave the car boot/doors open between trips taking stuff to chalet) and will sneak into your chalet if you leave the door/s open for a moment - especially if you are standing at the braai.

Have a great trip and wonderful sightings!

We were at B & D last week. 9 of us in 2 family units.
Very clean and well maintained.

The restaurant was fine, service was a bit slow, but otherwise ok.

The swimming pool though was an absolute disgrace. The dam outside the camp was clearer!

Sightings along the tar road S110 leading to camp were good. We saw Leopard along it twice, along with the big 5 in the area. Though general game in the B &D area was sparse.
Try the sand roads to the east of the H3. We had some good sightings there.

Hi Guys! Does anybody know whether there is something taking place in Berg en Dal on the 2nd of May? Just seems strange that this one specific day is fully booked with quite a few camping spots available on the other days of the week. Just thought there might be a reason for this such as the 155th anual Green Warbler convention or something similar!

Has anyone noticed if the swimming pool is in better condition than it was early in January when Yoda posted?

Does anyone know why the camp is fully booked on May 21st through May 25th? Not even a camping site is available those days. Tried to get information from Reservation but they could not tell.

I do know that the 21st May dates are the SANparks HR Indaba bookings. I believe the whole camp is booked for that.

Hi All,

Have been reading through this thread and wondered if anyone could give me some advice on which FA6 unit would be best suited for our visit in May from 5th - 8th.

I am not normally so picky  but would like to make the stay as comfortable for my brother-in-law who will be with us and medically he cannot walk too far. We will also be spending more time in the camp.

I did request unit 78 which is near the fence, but since looking at the map I wondered if there would be more game etc. on the other side of the camp close to the dam. No 26 has already been taken.

Wondered whether 22 or 12 are also good options.

:w:

Hi All

I will be going to B&D for the first time in roughly 20yrs, in June.

Having not been in the area for some time, other than passing through, I am unaware of the best sundowner spots (Alcohol free, of course ) close to camp.

Can anyone recommend the best place to stop off, for a quiet few minutes right at the end of the day?
