Hey guys and gals!

This is a great thread and one that just confirms the golden @ @ rule :D !

The S90 has always been good for us and have seen lion there on many occassions... as well as Marula loop  !

Bottom 5 roads for us:

S131... Has anyone seen anything on this road other than pyramid koptjies?

S36 below Lugmag towards Skukuza

S127 near Timbavati

H1-5 between Olifants and Letaba... in thick mopani plains

S142 near Mopani... only Buff's on this road!

Tough one though!
A bird in the hand should be in the Bush!! ;)

We once saw a pride of lions around a young wildebeet kill about 100m onto the S90 from H1-4.

Spent much time there watching, taking vidoes and watching the lazy beasts lion around. That was the only special sighting.
Other than that, game viewing has been very dull on the S90. I haven't even seen any decent bird sightings on that road.

DD, I think you and I have the same book that shows the 90 a being productive (one of those newer Kruger maps and spotting the big 5?)

One man's meat is another man's poison. I for one enjoy the S90. On my last trip in Jan 08 the S90 produced many memorable sightings. Refer to my trip report. But hey, I do not mind if you leave the S90 alone for me to travel all by myself!!!!!

Could be DD. Map book at home. I'm in the office (No wonder I stopped smiling ten days ago).

I'm out of paradise!

ADW. You are correct there. I said to GS in his thread on the bottom five roads, that it would be interesting to see how many overlap on both threads.

The S100 already has postings in both. It is one of my favourites and WTM says, it's one of the worst.

That is the way the boerewors bends mate.

As BH said, the only bad road with which kruger can be connected is the N4 lane from Malelane or Nelspruit to Johburg

Just wanted to see the contrast with the Top 5 thread
Tambotie 20 July, Shipandane Birdhide 21 July, Mphongolo Backpack Trail 22 -25 July, Tzendze 26 July, and Greater Limpopo National Park 27 -29 July :D

I will have to check my diaries to see if I can find a decent animal spot ... but I do remember seeing an osprey (!) on the H1-5 between Olifants and Letaba, and that's a pretty good spot in my book :)

MASHABA,

I had a great sighting on the S82 Mativuhlugu loop last time I was in Kruger. We saw a beautiful leopard in a tree about 3-4 km from the south end of the road. It had an impala that it had killed the previous night hanging in the tree next to it.

We watched the leopard for about 1/2 hour (it would've been longer but not for gate closing time) just saddling the tree branch. Underneath the tree, a hyena trotted around for some leftover scraps.

I must say that this thread gives the S100 an infamous reputation...I am drawn to this road...whenever i drive past it, it like the bermuda triangle, pulls me into it...

Mashaba and Skywalker have me frantically searching my maps to find this road.

I'm sure a lot of others are doing the same.

DD. I also have a number of roads that are like the Bermuda triangle to me. The S100 be one of them. Get irresistably drawn there every time and usually the animals have done a "flight 19".

Just kidding, I have seen a lot on the 100. It just seems that more recently, the road is not as productive as it used to be.

The N1 between Skuk & LS has moved from best to worst over the last 13 years or so. We used to be first on it before the pre dawn grands prix that take place daily nowadays. In 1992 we saw a lion kill after waking 3 other lions up. Nowadays you just get roadkill.
S90. Have ridden this road a few times and seen a Temmink's courser.
S21 - nice quiet peaceful road with nothing.
H6 - saw a lappet faced vulture and a couple of eles once!
h9 - saw a bunch of cars 'waiting for lions' in the long grass, and a few zebs.
Whatever (according to BB): "You are correct but I don't want to admit it".

I haven't done the N1 between LS an Skuk's in a while, has it become so bad BB?
