If you have 20 meters of extension, you will be able to reach power from any camping spot

Is it joke? Does it mean that campsite unit with powerpoint doesnt have its own electric socket?? Foreigners coming by air cant bring 20m of extension like southafricans with caravans.. :hmz:

Firstly leanewel I apologise for taking so long to reply to you.

Thanks for your great input, and although I am flying to Jhb there is still the drive to Kruger.

There are so many roads to drive from Lower Sabie that there are endless choices available without not having to take the same roads every day

The time is passing quickly now and the end of the year will be here in no time

Once again thanks for sharing your views :gflower:

Morning all,
Does anyone know how the shower/toilet is situated in the Fu5 units ?
Is it 1 shared bathroom, or are there seperate bathrooms on each bedroom ?

I would also like to know if anyone has stayed in the lst2uz units recently, what is there view like, and also there condition, or are they due for refurbing ?

I have a choice of the above, if it was my choice alone, it would be the tents, however I am taking my folks, so there preference is for a hut with there own bathroom, my mom hasnt been to knp in a good while, and stayed in tamboti last, and found the camp to wild for her liking(To much bush etc), they had a unit without a bathroom thoug, while these tents are fully equiped, any advice ?

Bucky - good morning :D

I do not know the FU5 unit(s), but have a look at ACCOMMODATION on the LS page, you will see some photos for this FU5 unit if you click on the code. From the description it looks as if there is only 1 bathroom. The FU4V units have 2 rooms, each with own bathroom - and stunning views.

The tents are just great. The other 'Mites will help out here, but from what I read previously, it seems as if the tents are in a process of refurbing - but I am not sure. If you get a LST2U, most of them have very good views. But do yourself a favour and go to the BOARD INDEX, CAMPS and ROADS KNP, Topic: Accommodation photos. On the first page you will find an index for all the camps and units with photos. This will help a lot. The tents have a wonderful bathroom and big shower. But keep in mind that there is only a fan and no aircon.

If I can make a recommendation :hmz: If your folks are not happy with staying in the tents, have a look if a FU4V unit is not available (look at AVAILABILITY on LS page). The views are as stunning as the tents, but maybe the accom will be more userfriendly for your folks. There are photos of this units too on the above-mentioned topic.

Hi bucky

Unfortunately I cant help you with the FU5 unit. Haven't been in those yet.

But the tents are fully equipped. They have a kitchen outside and a toilet with shower inside. We stayed in them in March. You can find pictures HERE

We stayed in NUMBER 20 Perfectly located, luxurious, nice and spacious. I would stay in one of those any time.

Enjoy your planning.

Hi all,
Thanks for the input.
I phoned the camp, and they say the FU5 has a bathroom per room, so we will try that out.

My choice, being a regular camper would have been the tents, but this is a special gift for the folks .

I will try do an update on this unit when I am back.

Hi all

i'm am staying at Lower Sabie with my mom on 19 and 20 Oct. The first night we have a BD2U unit and the second night a BD3U unit. I believe these are on the perimeter. Has anyone stayed in one of these units? Do you get a good view from them? i tried looking for where they are situated on the camp map but can't see them.

thanks

Hi ww29

We have stayed in the BD3U units and they are great. You have a nice view of the river. Number 3 - 22 are BD3U units, and from number 74 upwards are BD2U units. (the map still shows the old numbers) You can look for photo's and maps in the accommodation thread here There are lots of photo's of these units.

Good luck planing your trip

We are going to be camping at Lower sabie for 4 or 5 nights in November. I haven't been to the KNP for 28 years, so I really am like a novice when it comes to that part of the world.

What advice can I get from you guys and what can I expect?

The views from both units are excellent

Enjoy.

GavinW - never camped at LS - but other 'Mites will help. The camping area is just behind the BD3U bungaloes and from what I saw each year, it looks as if everyone is enjoying it. The area is not near to a perimeter, but only a short walk from the fence.

Hi All

Which of the LST2 Safari tents are the best in terms of location?
I know they are not on the perimeter, but unfortunately could not get any of the LST2U ones :(

Thanks! :)

Hi Stevengzn :D

Number 15. It is situated next to the perimeter on the left hand side, very close to the fence. It has a small view on the river between nr 16 and 17. According to me, a very wonderful location.

Have fun

Hi Stvengzn

We stayed at LS in Aug/Sept this year. We also stayed in a safari tent. We noticed that the LST2 didn't have great view, because the bush around the fence was to thick you couldn't see a lot. But we also got told that the LST2U were filled. Once at LS more than half the tents were empty so we swapped tents and even got allocated a LST2UZ (which has good view over the river), so if you’re lucky you will get river view anyway. If you aren’t so lucky I would go for tents 10-15. They are right against the fence line. We did hear a hyena walk past the fence (tents 13 and 14) but couldn’t see it because of the thick bush issue. Maybe you will have more luck with sightings around the camp. Hope this was of any use.
