That sounds like you have a great itinerary going there!

I am assuming you have a Kruger Park map book so you can follow any routes given?

But firstly I would say to get to Biyamiti from Nelspruit, enter via the Malelane Gate and make your way to the camp, check in 2pm, giving yourself enough time to unpack, settle in before the drive.

I leave Australia in less than three weeks now, and trying to work out my daily budget, wondering how much should I allow for petrol for a small car, e.g would approximately $20 worth get me from Skukuza to Orpen, or from Satara to Lower Sabie? Substantially more or less than this?
For half a century I looked for an excuse to visit Africa and finally said to my son "Let's just go." Never regretted it, and about to return for my third trip to Kruger.

Which $20?

You could do approximately 200 km per day.

A small car would probably need 15 - 18 litres to do that distance conservatively.

Petrol is about R13 per litre at present.

$20 (US) is about R240, so that would be ok.
Whatever (according to BB): "You are correct but I don't want to admit it".

Thanks for that Bush Baptist, and sorry, I should have said Australian $$, but I can work out approximate costs from what you've advised

Hi and a warm welcome to the forum!

Do you mean the distances travelling inside the park or outside?
If inside its a long way at 283km and at the low speed limit would not advisable!
If you are talking about driving outside the park between the 2 gates then I would say have a look

Have a look Map

The only dangers to a baby that I could see would be a Malaria risk and you should take all precautions in that regard.

Hi there
I have on two occasions driven more or less the same distance in the park in a day - once from Shimuwini (near Phalaborwa) to Berg en Dal (near Malelane) and the other time from Olifants to Berg-en Dal. I have vouched not to try and drive these distances in the park in a single day again. Keeping to the speed limit, stopping to stretch legs and watch animals, makes it a long long drive. So yes, it can be done, but I would advise that you break it up if you can. There are many interesting stops between Malalane and Phalaborwa including a number of camps with restaurants and picnic sites.
