Annaluisa, we spent 3 magic nights there in June and stayed in 92 - no kitchen, just a double bedder - the view was fantastic from the stoep. Braaied every night and could sit with the feet up on the wall looking over the river - heaven.

The only thing was the refurbishment works that were going on - the restaurant was not at it's best but that did not detract from the camp at all.

Evening All,

Has anyone stayed in unit 14, FQ4V2, at Olifants? We are spending 2 nights there in mid September, and would like to have some info on what to expect. The pictures from the website look really nice, but as we all know, this can be deceiving.

I would also like to know whether the braai is in the front, river side, of the bungalow, or at the back? If it is at the back, can I use my own braai, or not?

I think unit 14 is a good one, you can have a mape of the camp (somewhere under "toursim" at the left side of this page... sorry I don't remember exactely where )
and about the braai, I think also is in the front, like for the other bungalows.. cooking with a nice view

The job is purely voluntary - no pay in cash, but plenty of 'pay' emotionally

Expectations differ from region to region - reading those links should give a good idea though. Please ask if you have any other questions.

On my last KNP-visit, it was the first time I saw elephants from the Olifants Camp:




and hippos as usual...

The new restaurant at Olifants is a long way off from being completed. But! It certainly looks like it is going to be stunning when done. I spoke to the duty manager to see if he could confirm a date of completion, but he could not. So hang in there folk - one can still eat from the cafeteria - and tables are laid both inside and outside.

I phoned the camp: BD3U units are next to the eastern fence, no.106 -111.

Wonder if no.111 will be able to get glimpse of river 'over' the guesthouse in the corner?

I want to book one of these for next October and seek advice on which to go for.
I see there has been some criticism on Nshawu here but can't find much about Lebombo.
Nshawu however does seem to have the better position for game viewing.
Also any advice about the best way to go about advance booking on November 2nd.
I live in Spain and thought I would submit an email or the form on this website rather than phoning as it must be extremely hard to get through.
When should I submit these to stand the best chance?
Or should I phone and if so when?
Sorry about all my uncertainties but I really want to ensure the best possible chance of getting what I want.

I would say Nshawu is the best as long as it is up to scratch and hopefully by next October any necessary repairs would be completed.
Try and submit your request through as close to the beginning of November as possible, even midnight S.A. time if possible and then hold thumbs!

Hi, I have stayed at both houses - returned today from a week at Nshawu and can say without hesitation that Nshawu wins hands down. Very spacious living areas, fantastic views, several entertainment areas, spotless kitchen (!), truely the 'King' of Olifants. Lebombo far more compact, old kitchen, small living areas etc. Sheebs. PS : The roof of the Nshawu is to be repaired early next month - even then , I never found it to be that bad
