The best sighting that we have had from the Olifants Camp Viewpoint, was a pack of wild dogs coming down to have a drink on the opposite side of the river. That was years ago, but fantastic!

Please note that there are new developments currently taking place at Olifants Rest Camp. This involves

1. Upgrading of tourist units(all units without kitchen to have kitchens)
2. Upgrading of main buildings - reception
3. Upgrading of Conference Hall
4. Day visitor Site & Pool

The camp will continue operating as normal. This is part of our Infrastructure Development Programme to upgrade our ageing facilities.

We would like to apologise for the inconvenience occured as a result of this developments.

I guess that we wil pay more for accommodation aswell.

Where ass we, and I suppose, other visitors to Olifants were perfectly comfortable using the communial kitchens

Good news of course regarding a pool.

Just my opinion.

good evening all, but especially Stephens.L (who is a mine of information :) )
do you know how long the renovations will be expected to last? i have just made a booking for february 2014 and was wondering how much noise etc there will be? a pool at Olifants was always needed (imho, a beautiful camp, just lacking a pool)

Hi, Molpol

We are planning to complete all the developments by September 2014. We requested the constructors to minimise noise level at all times.

Hey guys

Could anyone tell me about the sun-rise/set at Olifants? does the sun rise in front of the camp or set in front of the camp. Which way does that camp face?

Thanks, much appreciated. :)

Hi K-4S

Olifants is on a hilltop, and as a result has chalets etc which face in all directions depending on which one you get. The sun rises on the side where the outlook point over the river is, and sets on the entrance gate side of the camp.

Hope this helps ...

K-4S,

I can do a bit more than tell you about the sunrise at Olifants, I can actually show you one. This picture was taken on the 30th May this year from our hut, I think it was number 98, in the camp with a cup of coffee oh to be there now! I like this that much that it I use it as my computer desktop image

Image

The other picture is not quite from the camp it was taken on the sunset drive from the river bridge
