This is a lovely remote gravel road, which is not travelled a lot. I simply love driving these "unpopular" roads - even if this means that you will have less good sightings.

But every once in a while these roads deliver spectacular sightings - without the traffic jams experienced on some of the other roads.

On 10 August this year I had this nice sighting in the road.

He had a bit of fun with a giraffe herd, chasing them around (must be an enormous ego boost!)

Great sighting and great photo Adansonia  :cam: . I totally agree with all your comments on this and other 'quiet' roads.
I have never seen cheetah on this road  but it is ideal cheetah territory. Well done!
I know someone who spotted a black rhino on this road in Sept this year!

There isn't a way to travel this road in the best hours of the day :hmz:
Perhaps the fastest way is via the H6 :hmz:
I'm thinking of taking this road in December to escape the crowds

So far havn't seen much on this road, but that is because the best time of day was spent on the H1-3 to Tsokwane

Did this road in Dec 09...

It was one big obstacle course (sooo muddy) for my little car I had...I worried that if I stopped I wouldnt be able to start again in many places so couldnt look to well but we saw BB Jackals and some good general game. At the end of the road about 2 km from Nwanetsi we were rewarded with a beautiful mating pair of lions.

So its been a good road for me!! Will do it again for sure!

Thanks for the info O-dog
Casper the friendly Corsa Lite would have struggled in the mud you speak of

The landscape is quite boring mostly ... open grassland. But it looks so ideal for cheetah

 Yes took my little Chico from cape town up to the park...there was so much rain...but I tell you this car did things most of the 4x4s where scared of, I guess its how you drive
So with your 'Enthusiasm' you will make your Corsa go where it wants but it wont be the same afterwards :D

Mind you it was a big SA trip I did then and the car broke down on Prince Albert's pass, managed to get it to Graaf Rienet in almost 40 degree heat to be fixed. After all the mud in KNP my steering wheel was shaking from the worst wheel alignment imaginable so got it fixed in Phalaborwa and then to round off a succesful trip of breakdowns I had a front left blow out just outside Joburg and limped at about 70km/h on a poor spare wheel to Bloem...what we endure to see our beloved Kruger

Anyway, with very few or almost no water points on this long road, I reckon it will be at its best after the first rains as the herds come back to new grass and the predators follow. ie more of a early summer road...there's my 5c worth  ...and btw as you say I think a good cheetah road!!

Ah I'm glad you think so! I was also suspecting that :D
I was thinking the same applies to the s90 to Balule :hmz: I havn't driven the whole length of the s90 yet :hmz:
Neither road of great reputation - which is a bonus when the December crowds are there!
Also both dry roads that should be best in after rain
