Looking at Duques' excellent index, it would appear that there is no thread here for this brilliant road!

(Duco please move if I missed it!)

This was the third last tarred road to be built in the Park, before the Phalaborwa-Mopani road and the revamped Doispane Road . (Unless you count the entrance road to Pafuri border post!)

It is surely one of the most reliable roads for unimpeded views of a huge array of Kruger animals! (Nkumbe lookout is excluded here, BTW )

My experiences:

Lion kills, or attempted, at Loskop and Hillside windmills.

Numerous other lion spottings.

Leopard in tree near Hillside.

White Rhino

Eland south of Nkumbe (An individual that probably came from some god-forsaken private reserve!)

Plenty reedbuck.

I have also seen 3 cheetahs near the Muntshe turnoff to the north. Those plains there are also full of zebs and wildebeest during the 'Kruger migration' periods. Almost always find rhino along the road near Muntshe too.

Seen Duke on this road not to far from the bridge going over the Sabie.

I drove this road on saturday and only saw buffalo and girrafe on it. The rest of the raod was boaring. It's very dry but Nkumbe's view made up for it. Amazing view over Kruger.

I'll be trying to add this one to my list aswell

Yip, one of those cold and hot blowing roads.

Also saw numerous lions on it, and my only two sightings of attempted hunts.

Saw both species of Reedbuck on it.

Verreaux's Eagle Owl nesting.

Leopard stalk and kill at nearby Orpen dam.

Just a little taste of Paradise.

Just back from Kruger. Did this road 3 times,viewing was amazing. I saw the biggest herds of zebra,wildebeest and buffalo, many rhino every time, herds of elephant, small herds of waterbuck, kudu, 5 jackal, lion and plenty of other animals and birds.
During my trip in Feb 08 this road was very quiet but even if the animals are scarce its always very scenic, its well worth the drive.

Never had any major sightings on this road up until April/May this year.

- Saw pride of 6 lions(5 females & 1 lovely male) walking on this road and thereafter an attempted impala hunt at about 5:30pm.Really exciting stuff.

About 2 hours prior to this 3 cheetah were seen closer to the Londozi mountain range. Unfortunately I never got to see them but other members of the family spent over 2 hours with them.I was headed for Duke Watering hole at the time.
They also saw a serval just b4 they caught up with the lion sighting.

- Seen great action involving 2 tawny eagles where 1 came dive-bombing onto the other one which had just made a bird kill of some sorts.A real exchange of combat took place after which the invader made off with the spoils.

- Probably the best sighting for me was a 1.5 - 2m long monitor lizard ? that was walking on the road for about 40m just 2km south of Nkumbe. Its tongue constantly trying to detect anything of interest. It eventually made off into the bush just as it was within 3m off the car.

I have seen the rest of the big5 with exception of leopard on this road and the biggest herds of zebra & wildebeest that I have seen in the park.Going into the thousands I would assume (2004).

Rest of general game seen as well as ostrich.

I always find time for this road.Really scenic drive...

Large herd of buffs, 400+
Large herd of zebra, 600+
Python in July!

Short addition, my folks have been visiting Kruger every year since 1958, and this has always been a favourite road of theirs, they say if all else fails go try the H10.

I haven't been on this road for over 10 years (been living in Australia) but I am planning a trip in September this year. A friend who visited recently said that the windmills / waterpoints along the H-10 appear to have been closed. Do you guys know if this is true? If so, has it had a noticeable impact on game distribution / viewing?

More generally, is there any way of finding information on which waterpoints (as marked on the map) are still in use?

Seemed to be a very nice road when we travelled it a bit- we ran into a herd of a about 20 giraffe zig zagging forwards and backwards in the road.

Road was also incredibly busy, but when we turned off onto the Mlondozi loop we spotted black rhino, Duke and a cheetah trio. Hmmm. Maybe thats a sign. But hopefully will travel this road more often in future, thats when i am my own person.

in june when i went i was priveledged enough to see a serval. k n i was there this weekend (friday 22nd aug 2008 to sunday 24th aug 2008) of which i traveled this road on friday afternoon round about 4pm and we seen 5 cheetah chasing a warthog, and since the grass is burnt on one side had an exceptional view!! one cheetah managed to grasp the warthog but somehow it managed to escape into a burrow. it was the most amazing thing ever!!! ive always wanted to see a cheetah chase and thankfully this weekend i was in luck!!
