Hello,
we are planning our trip for next year and have not been to Tsendze before. We will be towing a normal road caravan, is the road in a good enough condition to tow a caravan?
Also, is it possible to book a specific campsite?

Hopefully you are going out of season because that camp was not rustic since the start of the long week-end during September. Children running around campsites, yelling on top of their voices, bouncing balls till late, riding their bicycles between campsites...we were very close to slapping some parents silly.
Loads of people take their caravans, some campsites might be a wee bit small for a caravan. If I may make a suggestion, ask for any of the following stands;
3 (lots of shade, privacy and next to fence).
13 (shady, private and fence view)
23 / 24 / 26 / 27 (big stands with shade, fence view and close to bathrooms).

If you have space, take a rake. The Mopani leaves can drive you crazy, especially when there are strong winds. I don't think poor Rodgers can keep up with raking all the campsites at this stage. I have suggested on my guest feedback that they make one or two rakes available for those visitors who like to keep the camp and groundsheet clean. The baboon spiders love the leaves which nearly gave me a double heart attack.

Rodgers and Elena will welcome you and come over for a chat every night. We love them and even asked them to be our witnesses at our wedding at Mooiplaas. You will enjoy the bird life at Tsendze provided the camp is not noisy. The scops owls tend to be quiet when the camp is full and noisy. Rodgers will show you the various owl species they have in the camp.

Last week elephant broke fence and entered camp during the night. Not a problem though...just scary. Beware.

Hi Guys (And Roger in particular)

We are going to be staying in Tsendze for the first time this December. Now, having read this thread from front to back, and then back again at least three more times it seemed to me that the best sites are numbers 3 and 26. I have called Mopani to see whether I could reserve any of those two but, they were both taken and so I reserved number 25 instead. Now, I haven't seen many pictures or heard much talk on the topic about this site so just a couple questions:

1) Is it private, or shared with another site?
2) Is it on the fence?
3) I have seen a picture of campsite 34 which looks nice and private and also on the fence. Which one (or any other site ) would be better in terms of privacy and being closer to the fence? I have looked at a site map but, as we all know, those can sometimes be misleading.

Any help and answers would be much appreciated :) and I am really looking forward to meeting you Roger.

Hello wyld@hrt, we stayed at no. 25 in August and were...as usual, very happy! It is a large and private site with no-one having to walk through to get to their sites. We were visited in the evening by the resident Barred owlets which sat on a low branch right next to the braai...as you can see in pics I previously posted. It is not right up to the fence, however, there is no-one between you and the fence and you can see should anything walk past. I cannot comment on number 34...cannot remember, my list of favourites: 26; 3; 27; 28; 29 and 30. Will try to post some pics of 25.

Having said that...no matter where you are in Tsendze you cannot but be happy! :D

Hi there!

We're getting married in the Kruger in April this year :D .

I'll try and keep this short and sweet though - the plan is to have the ceremony at Tzende Camp in the afternoon (we've booked out the whole of Tzendze for the saturday), and then we all get carted off from there to the private Nzopforini braai/event/dinner spot, located to the south of Mopani for the night time celebrations.

So anyway, we'll obviously be doing our own recce around the campsite a couple days before hand, but I know theres folk on here with alot more experience of the camp site than us - if you had free range of the entire camp site, where would you setup for a wedding ceremony? Keep in mind that there will be 100 guests , so it will need to be an area with a fair size. My memory of the camp is a little faded at the moment, but Im sure I can picture one area of the camp that is quite big, with a huge tree in it? Or is my mind playing tricks on me?

Thanks in advance!

Cheers,

Graham

Graham, a very warm welcome to you and what a wonderful place to have a wedding.

My warmest :congrats:

It is a lovely time of the year to take advantage of the shade offered. Wow, I do hope that we get to see some piccies.

I think we stayed at 25 when we visited. I think the site next door was the most popular site for larger families.

Unfortunately I left my camera at home for the trip but I do have a few not so good quality pictures.

This is my daughter braaiing facing the site I would recommend.

Walking in the evening in the area.

More lovely trees taken close to the site I would recommend.

I am sure someone will give you the correct number as it is extremely popular.

Hi Tsendze enthusiasts

I'm Kelly, Graham's fiance.
Thanks so much for all the advice already.

We know we'll be able to make the best decision on the spot to hold our wedding ceremony with your help.

Thanks for the links and pictures so far:)

:D

I concur with Oubaas1, around sites 5/6 would be nice. Also around 14/15 it appeared quite shady when I walked around the camp last May; and would have enough space for 100 guests. Just a little further to walk to the bathrooms......
I guess the easiest would be to point out those sites that I personally remember (with all the dangers associated with that) as being unsuitable for your purpose:
1-4; 8-12, 16-20, 27-34.

I am a little fuzzy about the area around sites 21 - 24, but I do seem to remember some large tree(s) in that area. Lot of space around those 4 sites.

Hope it turns out to be great experience!
