The cam is near the top of the waterhole as seen in the arial photo. It´s nearer the camp, and pointing more or less along the lenght of the waterhole as you can see. So more or less into the bush, except when Danie is playing with it.

I think that when you use Google Earth you can just make it out...

Phew DQ! With my strange eyes I booked myself in for a sight test as I thought I'd really lost the plot but ....... googled Satara and see there is a waterhole at Stanley, albeit not the cam one. Thought I'd totally imagined those won derful lunches and evenings. :wall: :wall:
Thank goodness for that! Thanks for your help, DQ.

Just a bit of a moan- why do viewers save pictures of absolutely nothing as a highlight on the webcam? I know there was a lovely highlight of quite a few wildebees drinking a couple of days ago, now we have a picture of a bare water hole. Come on guys, lets stick to real highlights!!

Have a look here, carolynn. Many members who watch the cam and click on that highlight button never visit the forum, and most also don't realise that once they have posted a highlight, every time they refresh their page, another highlight posts :( With my "hint" thread, I'm trying to get the message out one member at a time — perhaps the mods might like to make this info a 'sticky'? 8)

I notice that the waterlevel of the waterhole that is covered by the Satara webcam is low. Is this waterhole filled by KNP personnel or does it have an automatic "filler"? If it is manually filled how regular is it done :?:

Hi Michele,

Danie and other people who can control the cam at headquarters in Pretoria can zoom and pan the cam.

Hi Michele, I wish we could make the pan/tilt/zoom available to all our forum members but the data line to Satara is so 'thin', that even we, directly on the network, can not effectively do that. That is why I only now and then use it to check if all is still ok. When I give a command to the webcam, it takes about 10-20 seconds to respond as the data line's capacity is limited and actually used for Satara restcamp operational tasks (e-mail, booking our guests in/out, etc.) and we give preference on our network to that! (unfortunately the telecom service provider can not give us more bandwidth! :( )

So usually after hours (around 18:00 SAST at night), I sometimes turn the cam around a bit to give our viewers a different view of Satara and if there is an animal (like the zebbie) or bird in view, I try to zoom in on it a bit. By the time the camera accepts the zoom/move command, the animal might have left that spot, resluting in our viewers having nothing but vegetation or ground cover on the image!

Enjoy this feature now and then!

I read the FAQ however the time displayed remains the same all day long and shows the time that you logged on. It does not change with each new image. The only way to change the time is to refresh it ever so often.

HI Jeanmarie and welcome to the forum. Good to see a new face!:yaya:

Yes, the time stays the same until you refresh the page, (basically it shows the time you downloaded the page ) but the image will change every thirty seconds.
It is useful because if you refresh the page and the time doesn't change then we know the cam is stuck and can notify one of the very helpful mods who contact Danie in Pretoria who sorts it out.
Hope that helps. Enjoy the cam!

It´s outside the restaurant.

The webcam and such is at the arrow, the halfround bit of grass is in front of the restaurant.
Have a look in this topic (Where I´ll be moving these posts as well.)

Hi Stelliegp,

Easiest way to get to the cam is to walk straight past reception and carry on till you get to the fence .. you will be able to see it from there as well.
