I did not read or search the previous discussions regarding my request. Would it be possible to supply us with the respective Web Cam co-ordinates so that we can Google Earth it? This would give us a good indications of the surroundings. Thank you.

Corprid

Herewith the co-ords for Orpen andf Satara Webcams.

Orpen - 24°28'29.38"S 31°23'36.06"E

Satara - 24°23'36.55"S 31°46'51.07"E

The Orpen view doesn't have much detail, but Satara's you can virtually see the pole that the cams mounted to, well almost

Enjoy

My apologies if this has already been asked before... I've searched and not found anything yet. How much does a webcam cost? The cams in use are obviously better than those we use at home... is the price of the cams one of the main limiting factors to others being added? Or is it more a case of infrastructure such as power/internet connection etc?

Don't know what a cam cost, but I believe that the cost of the associated infrastructure, especially bandwidth, is the biggest cost. I believe that the webcam itself it probably the smallest cost.

Hi Philly :yaya:

Very nice to have you posting on the forums

The Nossob and Satara webcams stay still - not moving around like the Orpen and Addo cams. This is because some people like the cams to move in for a closer view, and some don't - so by having two move and two stay still - it keeps everyone happy.

I hope this makes sense? Hope to see you on the forums more often

Is it possible to have more web cams in Kruger Park? Like maybe one at Lower Sabie, or Skukuza, etc.

I truly miss Kruger Park, and the whole of SA!

Thanks!

Welcome Kev!

It is unfortunately not possible. The infrastructure doesn't allow it and is often down.
Aside from that it is quite an expensive feature... The server has to dish out about a Terabyte per month already.

Can anyone help?

If I open the link to any of the Webcams, it does not update the pics. It stays on the pic and time that you opened it on.

Can someone tell me why the Nossob cam always goes out at night? I'm pretty much assuming it is solar-related, but here in N. America when all the good stuff is going on in the evening/night, the camera is off. I am able to monitor the camera when it is sleepy time for saffies, but there is never any cam pix available. Always shut down.
