Addo plant/weed is flourishing. Looks like we won't be able to see animals one of these day. :hmz: ...console yourselves looks like flowers are starting to bud, flowers on the way, which will make up for lack of viewing the animals.

As the floodlight at the water hole at Orpen is not working at the moment, I have switched the camera to night mode which will provide a black and white picture utilising existing light (moon, etc) and you might be able to have an image during the night. It is not perfect but it is a bit better than a completely dark screen!

I have reported the faulty light with the tech team at Orpen.

Happy camming (jn black and white Orpen!)

Dankie Danie

You can see quite well on night mode. I wonder if animals will go there more readily because the light is off?

Controlled fire is needed to make it possible for new grass and other vegetation to grow and make sure that the animals don't move away from the area(which causes the predators to move away too because the pray has left the area). If they don't burn the existing grass there will be too much of a certain grass specie that the grazers don't like because its dry and without the nutritions they need and they will move away. That is what a Ranger told us during the morning drive.

Hello fantastic cammers :yaya:

Just thought I'd let you know that I won't be around on the forums for a while as we are busy packing up and moving back to SA! On the plus side I'm hoping we'll be at the parks in person a lot more - particularly Addo which will be just down the road :D

Happy camming

Congratulations, PJL

Sounds like a good move, for many reasons :D

Good luck and look forward to your return to the cams when you are settled.
