Thought this is a Juvenile Dark Chanting Goshawk. Based purely on its size.

Hi Arks

On the S3, heading from Numbi gate to Skuks. Seen on the 9th August this year. Time was just past 11:00 in the morning.

I'm hoping I have Identified him correctly but if I have please can someone explain his behavior to me. My hubby captured it on film, this chap almost hit our car when landing next to us and once in the long grass we though perhaps h had found a baby snake and was eating it cause we saw a thin bright green (what we thought was a tail) sticking out his mouth, but he swallowed it and then plucked another stem of grass and did the same. He ate about 6/7 long blades of grass before flying off.

What on earth was that about? Is it normal? Thank you

This one was spotted on the Stapelkopdam Road near Mopanie - is it possible to ID it from this pic?

Hi Naomi

This one looks like a Dark Chanting Goshawk. I saw plenty of them in that area and particularly on Stapelkopdam road back in July 2013.
