Rob VII is NOT a fieldguide. It is worth having when you really want to get into detailed descriptions of the birds. It often helps when you have time to analyse features from pix of an unidentified bird, AT HOME. Don't expect much iro illustrations; exactly and only those you have in the Roberts fieldguide are repeated.

An option is to go for the Roberts multimedia programme - it contains all of the Rob VII text PLUS loads of photographs over and above the illustrations already referred to. What is great about is is that you can have the programme loaded on a tablet or iPad and you have all that info at your fingertips! This option gives you access to the bird calls as well.

Since doing that, I hardly refer to fieldguides!

After our super special meeting with JvR in Kruger he demonstrated the app he is talking about here, and as a result we bought a Galaxy Tab and the app and are loving it :D

What does the Roberts Digital Program cost (more or less)?

That's quite a bit for an app. Well, it's more than that I guess. I see it is on itunes for around 600 bux. Does it get updated at all the way that other apps do?

We bought ours about 3 weeks ago and had an update since. But JvR is the guru on this.

That is what I tried to say in my post. What probably did not come across is that you CAN have all of that information in your pocket all the time at 70% of the cost as the Roberts VII MM app contains all of the information that is in the book PLUS so much more... ...now I sound like one of those American product sales people...
