Hi Huntsman, only got to 131 because I had help from my sister who is a much better birder than I am. We didn't use voice ID's and while I don't recall the Diederik's call, I know Piet well and didn't hear them once!

Congrats. Lesser Kestrel and Yellow-rumped Tinkerbird would be new additions to mu KNP list. See I am trialling by 8 now, hopefully I can close the gap slightly in 5 weeks time

Don't get too close Swysie. Else I will have to head out that way again to spread the gap once more.

Lesser Kestrel just north of Satara. Yellow-rumped Tinkerbird in Skukuza camp.

Great stuff, Baffers! Hoping to see some nice photos soon! :D

I added nine birds to my KNP list during the past week, but at the same time I took off three during a self-audit, so the maths may not make sense if I didn't "confess"...

The birds added are: African black duck, Black cuckoo, red-headed finch, flappet lark, lark-like bunting, grey-backed sparrowlark, yellow wagtail (the same one Brenden saw...) olive-tree warbler and Amethyst sunbird.

My total is now 355

The Yellow Wagtail was at Mooiplaas Windmill this past weekend. I was guiding a group of birders at the annual Balule Bash (Honarary Ranger event). Perhaps we can expect a thread from Johan van Rensburg or Waterbuck, guests at this exciting event.

Caspian Plover - Tihongonyeni Windmill 14 October
Rock Kestrel - between Klopperfontein turnoff and Baobab hill 14 October
African Sacred Ibis - Mabalingwe (Makuleke) 8 October
