Note to all Ducklings:

Challenge #4/2015 and those to follow will be posted on Monday, 23 February 2015, by Barryels. We might take turns to post challenges, but you will be informed about it. Kindly let all your friends and family know about the fun we have and how much we learn with these challenges, and let them all participate! My aim is to get the amount of participants for these challenges to an all time high this year, and I promise you, I never give up.

A huge, big THANK YOU to umtali1 for helping us out with the challenges while we were away!

I think we need a motivator here too to get more Ducklings participating in these challenges! Shall we start with a Raptor Guide here too? Since there should be many Ducklings out there, let's start with 12 participants for a draw to win this superb Raptor Guide!

I have never, and don't think I will ever be able to try and ID birds without my bird guides BrawlerO! Please use yours as much as you need to! :D

hilda, well done in trying to get the interest going again. I got a birding friend and will try to get him on the forum and participate...let see. :D
On the other hand, I need to get a bird count gong myself as I have no clue how many I have sighted. :hmz:
Nevertheless, I am on board (not for the price) but to improve my id knowledge.

Answers to #3/2015

There were 7 participants this time.

1)Kurrichane thrush - black malar stripe and bright orange beak

Image

2)Greater striped swallow -striped ear coverts and seen in Mokala

Image

3)Burchells Coucal - no problems

Image

4)Water thick-knee- the grey wing panel distinguishes it from the spotted thick-knee.

5)Swainsons Spurfowl - no problems

Thank you all for your efforts. :gflower: Please keep supporting Barryels and other CMs . I'm sure there are more fledgling birders out there :hmz:

Happy birding.
