Location: Looking for Bats...
I have always heard a familiar sound in Kruger..... and then one day while i was busy on Roberts multi media i came accross this sound and found out that it was a Red faced cisticola. When i hear this bird it always reminds me of the bush and for some reason shimuwini :hmz:

It is a smallish bird that is seperated from others of its familey by the rufous cheeks, hence the name red faced. The closest looking bird of the same familey is the neddicky which is seperated from the red faced cisticola by not having the distinct red cheeks.

Red Faced Cisticola (Cisticola erythrops)

Habitat- Rank growth on the sides of rivers and streams.

Status- Locally common resident, sedentery and usually in pairs.

Food- insectivorous

Call- Distinctive loud ringing song end in a crescendo weet-weet-weet-WEET-WEET-WEET-WEET.......

Breeding- Monogamous. ball nest sewn with cobwebs into broad leaves of shrub or small tree. Parasited by Klaase's cuckoo.
