Augur Buzzard

Unread postby umtali1 » Fri Aug 08, 2014 3:08 pm

I can recall seeing this magnificent bird during my years in Zimbabwe.

I know its distribution in Southern Africa is mainly in Zimbabwe and parts of Namibia. I have read that it has been seen in the Kruger once only.

I just wanted to know if anyone in the birding fraternity has seen any Augur Buzzards and if you have any pictures of them :hmz:

Just for interest sake, I see that Lizet Grobbelaar used a Augur Buzzard in a Bird ID Challenge in 2012. Here is the Link.

Thanks Barryels. it will be interesting to see what 'mites have to say.

For me the Augur buzzard ranks with the Martial eagle and Verreaux's (black) eagle.
