Hi simonbee,

I do not have inside info but I think not. It has all the Robert 7 names and you can download updates from the net. My guess is that they are just going to upgrade the current version.

Sorry ... been on the phone all day

@BM Got my pda version this morning, bird calls are now on my phone

Found a few bird calls I know from Kruger that I have never either matched with the owner and a few I haven't ever seen before. :hmz: Gonna need more time when planning a route, will now have to stop for bird calls as well

I base a lot of my birding on calls :D You either know what it is, or you don't.....If you don't and you on 330 odd birds..it's more then likely going to be something knew  You do sometimes however run into a few drongos and robins on the way chasing these vocal lifers!! Damn mimics!

Its pretty much a Roberts bird book, on your computer.......you're able to list on it(personal, ringing, photographic), check out S.A's birding Spots, distibutions, It has all the species, with write ups, pics, calls, and videos, photos of nests, and eggs.........You can also add your own images, calls, infomation etc to etc bird.

It really is a must buy for anyone with a interest in birding.....think it goes for around R750 at the moment, with a Roberts Game. Defiantely worth the money, I spend my life on it :D

Recommended Format to ID by Call

Unread postby Cherries » Mon Dec 01, 2008 9:23 am

Hi Guys

I would really appreciate some advice on what format is recommended by you guys to ident by call only.

I have seen snippets on these pages about Roberts Multimedia and Ipods and things..... but a bit clueless where to source and what your views are on the different formats.

Bombard me with your knowledge!!!

Christmas is coming ....
Thanks
Jackie

Cherries,

I think Roberts multi media is probably the best. I use my Ipod, but at great pain have converted my bird call CDs to a format that is usable to me, but of course with copy rights etc it is pretty much for my private use.
Until Guy Gibbon produces his bird calls for MP3 players we are pretty much only left with the Roberts option.

Thanks for the input, Imax.

Now please tell me about the Roberts Multi Media. Does it involve Video as well as Audio. Ipods come in different formats I believe (according to my much younger colleague!) Where do you source the Roberts MM?

Thank you sooo much!
