Wagtails

Unread postby Guinea Pig » Mon Oct 20, 2008 11:53 am

Been walking around with this question since May. With my reputation for silly ones I only gathered courage to post now  We stopped at the Shell Ultra City just before Harrismith coming from Villiers. Early morning. Loads of wagtails about and I could've sworn some had yellow bellies. Pics didn't work, light was wrong. Books not at hand. Thought Mountain wagtail. Saw that 2 weeks later in Uitenhage. Not that then. Did light play a trick on my eyes? Please, be honest

Light certainly plays tricks on Wagtails.

Grey Wagtail is only partially yellow and that is a very very very scarce bird in SA. Yellow Wagtails are very yellow.

We also saw a "yellow" Wagtail on sunday. I think the more you looking for a Yellow Wagtail, the more yellow you see.

Grey Wagtail - Ja broer, eendag  Dismissed that soon enough. Yellow do get yellow if you look for it  One mystery down - trick of light.
