Good morning,

When we visited KNP a few years ago (in september) we found many Red-headed Weaver in Mopani Rest Camp.
We shall be back in KNP next fébruary and wonder if we could see them again ?
Could you tell us if it is season for Red-headed Weaver ?
Thanks
Marthe

Marthe,

I think the chances are very good to see the Redheaded Weavers still in breeding plumage. According to the Fieldguides their peek breeding months are from Oct-Dec, but they start changing to breeding plumage from July and can still be breeding in Feb.

Good luck!

Hi Anne-Marie,

I think your first bird is one of the weavers - Juvenile Red-headed Weaver perhaps? Not really experienced on young Weavers, so hope someone else can confirm or give correct ID on this one.

Hello there,

If anyone can confirm these sightings for me, it would be greatly appreciated! They were all seen in KNP in September 2009.

1. I think this may be 2 different species at least and I am not sure what they might be.

Heading out to LS next weekend and I desperately need to find this bogey bird, does anyone have some good tips for me on hotspots for them?

Hi DotDan,

I saw my first Red-headed weaver about 3 weeks ago travelling down to LS from Orpen via Talamati! Good luck.
