Three-banded Plover (Charadrius tricollaris)

Afrikaans: Driebandstrankiewiet
German: Dreiband-Regenpfeifer
French: Pluvier à triple collier
Dutch: Driebandplevier

A small, distinctively marked plover which occurs singly or in pairs along the muddy edges of small pools, lakes and streams.

This one was seen in the Kruger in May at the Crocodile River, despite searching I'm unable to identify it.

I think it's probably a threebanded plover, although you can't see the chest in your photo.

Yup, agree with Three-banded Plover.

The dark crown, white crown edge, red eye-ring, red bill on base, black and white band on the breast are the inimitable signs.
