We saw quite a number of them running around in a very dry and sparsely grassed area just south of Letaba on the S46 in Feb this year.

We love the way they would puff out their chests every now and then. :D

To start, these are vey bad photos taken yesterday at Kgomo-kgomo. Light conditions was heavy overcast and rainy, thus the bad image quality.

I at first glance thought they are Greater Painted Snipe, but the bills seem to short, the rufous on the belly too far down and the upper wing pattern too dark.

Any ideas?

Hi there :D I saw this pair on the S39, the Timbavati road soon after the H7 turn off. Is it a Courser? and if so which one?

The birds were very shy and I was extremely lucky to get a photo at all.

The bird doesn't sing because it has answers, it sings because it has a song.
