I'd take a flyer at a Wahlberg's eagle. The little crest at the back of the head is the clincher for me! The drongo also gives a bit of a clue to the (small) size of the BoP.

I see Oom has beaten me to the post... But at least we agree!

Hi again, I have managed to find a better picture of the bird of prey, which I took the first time I saw it.

I returned 10 mins later and the drongo had started its flyby's.

I am starting to think that this was an undercover birding challenge, Joe. :hmz:

Would I do that to you....... and then again.

No seriously it was a genuine inquiry and I thank you all for your quick response. Just booked my next trip in Nov. - shame about Shingwedzi but hopefully it will be open by then.

Thanks again bondm UK

Hi Kobus,

1 & 2 look like tawnies to me, 2 on a bad hairdo day!

First 2 are definitely Wahberg's. The GISS and upright posture is perfect for Wahlberg's, and wrong for Tawny. Tawny has a more robust bill, and is overall a bigger looking bird.
