Holub’s golden weaver, Ploceus xanthops, is an uncommon resident found in Natal and the escarpment and adjacent Lowveld from Swaziland to the Limpopo River. It likes forest margins, woody savanna and dense vegetation along watercourses and stream lines, occurring singly and in pairs, but may roost in flocks.

Its pale eye is a distinguishing feature.

This weaver species can live longer than ten years.
