Nearly end of April and surprisingly I could add two ticks to my tally during the "Autumn lull", African rock pipit and African skimmer pushing it up to 655.

I have added a few in the past month.
Visited Eshowe and surrounds and added:
Green Barbet and Olive Sunbird at Ongoye
Mangrove Kingfisher, Purple-banded Sunbird and Palmnut Vulture at Mtunzini
Green Malkoha, Spotted Ground-Thrush, African Goshawk and Eastern Bronze-naped Pigeon at Dlinza Forest.
Swamp Nightjar and Grey Waxbill at Amatikulu
On a business weekend in Cape Town managed House Crow, Common Chaffinch and Bank Cormorant.

Vaalkopdam yielded African Skimmer on 1 May

New total 617

I went rummaging through the Tokai plantation for mine, BB. They were very common there. Trick was to be quiet, they then quickly become active and easy to see.

Hi BB, sorry for the late reply. I also saw the chaffinch in the Tokai forest. It is a bit challenging with all the mountain biking going on there, but as jvR said, patience is the key word.

I have managed to finally break into the 600 mark. Spent 3 days birding in the Pofadder area. Up to 604 now.
