Can anyone tell me what exactly the swimming facility is in Glen Reenen Camp (small, large, far from camp, short walk, nearby etc) and whether it is available in December?

Are you asking about the waterfall with the swimming hole?
You can drive partway, but will have to walk some....it's a delightful little place



You can walk the whole way..easily...not far from the rondavels

Wonderful to get such a prompt answer; thank you! The picture is lovely; does this waterfall ever run dry i.e can we be sure of getting a swim in mid December?

Golden gate is in a summer rainfall area and you sure to have enough water to swim if you brave enough like CC to jump into the cold pool. Luckily its warm in Dec so I think you will enjoy the refreshing experience. Just be careful when walking on the rocks to slide down the fall. Its very slippery and you will loose a bit of skin like I did a few year back.

I wasn't brave enough to slide down the falls.....was worried I would damage my bathing suit in the first days of my travel in Africa...

The rondevals are a bit dated...but clean...we were booked to share with another adult couple for our stay and the first night we were each given our own I tried to explain that this was a mistake but no...we were given #13 & 15. The next morning there was a HUGE note on the sliding glass door asking me to come to reception.....we were then moved in together.
