SANParks is proud to announce that we now provide daily as well as weekly weather forecasts for our users.

It’s something that many web visitors have been awaiting for – being able to check the latest temperatures when they visit any of the national parks. We have heard your pleas and it is finally here!

The weather information provided includes:

7 day forecasts
Rain indications
Wind speeds
Moon phases as well as
Sunset and sunrise times
Will it rain? Will it be cold? Any of your climate queries can be answered by our detailed, yet easy to understand weather forecasts.

All parks have daily weather information that can be accessed from the park home page - link on the left hand navigation panel above the photo gallery.

It must be looking good now. It must have all fallen after the 18th December. To Naomi c the birds you listed this morning were all absent in December. Hardly any bee eaters, no quelea at all and no starlings either.
The nesting site was deserted. And not one stork except a saddlebilled in the Limpopo which was a new one for me which was great.

I assume that the rain there coincided with the general good falls that there were at Punda Maria and major parts of northern KNP from the evening of 24 Dec .

Mapungubwe was totally dry from July to November 2008. We receive our first little rain from the 15th December onwards. Up to now it is still raining here and there.

So good to hear about the rain. Thanx to all replying.

I suppose everything is green by now - wish I could experience such a transformation.

the last time i was there was 10/12/2008 and it was green and i still belive it is very much green.

Hey Casius, it was great seeing you in Maps a month ago! However, I don't agree that is was green... Yes, the mopane trees all had new, bright green leaves but the grass was still yellow and the game was still dutifully visiting the scarce water points like the Maloutswa pan, which is pumped in the dry season. It's great to hear it has been raining substantially over the last few weeks though! Will check up in Feb.
