Otter Trail Run : How fast?

Unread postby maussie » Wed Sep 23, 2009 1:43 pm

Congratulations to SANParks for introducing trail running to the Otter Trail.

Trail running is exploding across the world and offers great benefits to conservation organisations and participants alike.

Interestingly enough, the winner Iain Don-Wauchope completed the official Otter Trail in

4 Hours and 50 mins. (The race was 2,5 kms longer than the trail)

About 200 people completed the Trail in under 9 hours.

One of the most impressive performances was by a lady of over 40 years who completed the trail in under 6 hours.

I read about this in the media and it really is incredible too see that the winner did it in less than 5 hours. I have done the hike and doing it in 5 DAYS is hard enough ! I just wonder about the Bloukrans crossing - did they time it for low tide / were the runners assisted / or did they simply have to swim across ? Does anyone know ?

Sounds stunning. 8) It makes me wish that it had been introduced at an earlier stage of my life... but then :hmz: one more thing on my "to-do" list.
The bird doesn't sing because it has answers, it sings because it has a song.
