That is a truly gorgeous ellie photo in the afternoon light :cam:

Thanks Mel,
I was watching the rest of the small herd that had already crossed the road feeding on my left when this straggler came along very quietly and I had to hurry to take this pic as he stepped onto the road. :)

Loan Buffalo bull grazing alongside the road early in the morning
One can see that he has been rolling in some white mud after the recent rains.

While driving along slowly and quietly with my vehicle’s windows open I stopped when I heard a branch cracking.
I knew that there were some ellies close by and waited.
My patience was soon rewarded as a small family group of ellies emerged from the bush and continued feeding
I watched in absolute amazement as the ellies started feeding on the Prickly Pear Cactus which has very sharp spiny thorns.

Hi RonnieL

It was SO good to meet you in Addo on Sunday! Thanks for the lovely LONG chat and all the good advice on where to go and what to look for.
The lions roared every night, and we missed them again, by minutes!
I enjoyed your new loops in Matyholweni section, and saw hundreds of warthogs there.
Had some very good elephant sightings, and the school children really enjoyed themselves.
My wife is chuffed that we are distantly related!
Will post a few pics and some of the kids' pics on my TR `Frieder & Michelle visit Kruger in December' once the dust has settled...

Keep up the good work -- it is as if we are given a free Addo game viewing drive every day!

God bless,

Friedrich von Hörsten

Hi Friedrich,
I am pleased to read that you are all safely back home. :)
It was great meeting and chatting to you.
It is amazing what one can discover and all because of the first contact we made via the forums.
I am also pleased that I was of some help to you and that the school children all enjoyed themselves.
I am looking forward to seeing some of your and the children's pics.
Greetings from the Eastern Cape
