MZNP: Roads

Unread postby Stoffel » Wed Dec 18, 2013 4:49 pm

I have been to MZNP only once - 20 years ago. And I believe it is time to visit again and get away from the places where I got stuck the last few years, namely Karoo and Ebb & Flow. As I am towing a conventional caravan, I would like to know if the entrance road from the main gate to the park's camp site is tarred nowadays. If it is still a gravel road, what is the general condition of the road?

Stoffel it is tarred in portions ,but gravel portions good.
Small corrugations on short dirt road leading to gate but not bad at all. Went camping there 2 days ago.
No to speeding in Sanparks.

Hi Stoffel

Road is OK for a conventional van. We also camped there recently and had no problem. Since you were last in MZNP there has been a lot of changes/upgrading so you may not recognise the place - enjoy your stay!
